With events such as the trailer relay, rope-mug-tie, stray gathering, double mugging, and bronc riding, the ranch rodeo is one of the most popular events at the Black Hills Stock Show, where the top teams from the five-state region compete for over $21,000 worth of cash and prizes.

Don’t miss: At the bronc match, 30 of the best saddle bronc riders (including 17 NFR qualifiers, four World Champions, two Canadian National Champions, and two Indian National Finals Champions) will compete for $10,000 in added prize money.

Five rodeos means there’s something for everyone: At the Best of the West Ranch Rodeo, cowboys compete in events such as ranch vet, double mugging, stock sorting, bronc riding, and wild cowboy milking; the Best of Mexico rodeo celebrates centuries of vaquero tradition; the Cowboys of Color Rodeo celebrates the heritage of America’s black cowboys; the rankest bulls show what their made of at Bull’s Night Out; and the PRCA Rodeo celebrates its 118th year as the world’s original indoor rodeo.

Don’t miss: Just north of the Will Rogers auditorium in the Tower Plaza, the Coors Rodeo Roadhouse is the place to gather with friends, two-step to some live music, and talk all things rodeo.

SAN ANTONIO STOCK SHOW AND RODEO

Going strong after 64 years, the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo has won the PRCA’s Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year award eight times. With six PRCA events, one WPRA event, a ranch rodeo, and an entertainment lineup of Country-Western headliners, all fans of the cowboy life are sure to have fun!

Soak up some sun at the only outdoor rodeo among the top 25 PRCA rodeos that occurs between mid-September and early May. The town of Tucson takes rodeo seriously—it’s the only metro area that closes school for two days so that locals can enjoy the festivities!

Don’t miss: The Tucson Rodeo Parade is a beloved tradition. Western-themed floats, historic horse-drawn coaches, Mexican folk dancers, outfitted riders, and marching bands make their way down a mile-long route.

The inaugural event is set to become the largest, richest one day rodeo in the history of the sport, with the largest single day payout: $2,000,000! The top 10 contestants in each event will compete against qualifiers sanctioned by the PBR, Pro Roughstock Series, USTRC, Better Barrel Racers, and Ultimate Calf Roping for the chance to win some big bucks and ultimate bragging rights.
