Square the Waons for Cowboy Correct Cowboy Poetry Gathering
Bobkinford — Fri, 2010-01-15 00:41
Cowboys lear to read from their horses
Cowboy gatherings started as informal rendezvous where cowboys got together in an informal fashion and swapped true lies, often in the form of poems or songs. A cowboy didn’t need to be invited to these gatherings, he heard about it and just showed up. Everyone was welcome. Then the gatherings turned into the form of big business and non-profit organizations they are today, with their own form of political correctness keeping many cowboy entertainers out in the cold.
Political correctness, is often anything but correct. Now there is a gathering that is “cowboy correct.” The Texas Crossroads Cowboy Gathering has gone back to the old tradition. In order to preserve and promote the cowboy culture and lifestyle, Crossroads allows the entertainers to invite themselves. Limited to forty-four acts, all entertainers are allowed to sell their books, cd’s and videos. In addition Crossroads has made arrangement with four smaller gatherings to send reps to Van Horn so that they may judge the entertainers, and make invitations to their respective gatherings.
While the other “politically correct” cowboy poetry gatherings have trappings trade, it is usually trappings made as fine art, priced too high to be used on a horse. The trappings and trade at Crossroads is comprised of west Texas Cowboys with the real trappings of the trade. Fresh new Cowboy poetry and music, delivered by real cowboys and cowgirls, combined with authentic cowboy trappings. It doesn’t get any better than that.
The event is February 5th through the 7th, culminating in a Cowboy Church, headed by Steven Spalding. Make sure you come to Van Horn Texas the first weekend in February and square your wagons for the Texas Crossroads Cowboy Gathering.
