It has reached the national news today. A horse stampede in San Diego! LOL

Actually it was an area in the south of San Diego right on the border with Mexico. It seems that about a dozen wild horses made it across the border from Mexico (and you wonder why we have no defenses against humans coming across - very porous border) to stage a breakout and run for the border with their captured brethen. In this area of San Diego there are a number of ranches with penned in horses.

The story is, they enticed (? not sure how a horse can do this) a number of horses out of their pens (? don't know how) and headed into an olympic training area that we have here in San Diego. The funny (or not) was the hysteria by authorities that followed. The Sheriff sent a helicopter in (some very, very dangerous low flying) and even the border patrol started chasing the invading hordes of illegal mounts. All it did was add confusion and movement that endangered not only the horses but human bystanders.

Finally the owner of a few of the horses and his wranglers showed up on their own mounts. They lassoed the lead horse and all followed back to the ranch. Even the illegals that will now apply for citizenship. It was fun news on the local stations and made the morning NBC network. Again, showing the surprise that the west is alive and well in California even if those Mexican beasts do not respect our pens. They will soon file for legal papers and enjoy the right to be penned in with the rest of us.
