The Cowboy Cook Lives Here!

I have been asked a few times; "where in Southern Oregon are you?'
I live in the small town of Jacksonville (pop. 2200). I'ts a nice town that is growing, but still has small town feeling and values.
There's a coffee shop, where you say good morning to everyone (no drive-thru), the men still get there haircut at the "Barber Shop" on Main Street (one chair), and when you go out for dinner...the owner always comes by, shakes your hand and thanks you for coming in.
The Gold Rush town of Jacksonville has been designated as a National Historic Landmark Community. Located in the foothills of the Siskiyou Mountains, an old west town with over 90 original brick and wooden buildings that date back to the 1850s. Using the 100 year old photographs of pioneer Peter Britt, many have been restored to their original state. Strolling by the historic buildings on Oregon and California Streets will take you back to the frontier days of this mining town.

This weekend for a little break, we came town from the hills (that's where us people who don't live in town live) and are spending the weekend at the Jacksonville Inn.
For those of you who may be interested...we are staying on the suite where President Bush and First Lady Laura stayed...
So, if you're looking for someplace to stay when you visit and one of the best restaurants around, check out the Jacksonville Inn...lots of history here too.
