Early Birthday Surprise
La_cowgirl21 — Mon, 2010-02-15 00:14
Today I received an unexpected early birthday gift from one of my brothers and his family. I was informed at church today that I had to go to my sisternlaw's house afterward. Mari wouldn't tell me why or for what I was to be there for just that I had to go. When we pulled in the driveway to their house, she looks at me and says "oh by the way, happy birthday." I looked at her with a confused look and replied, "What do you mean? That's in 2 weeks." She repeated herself and motioned towards a dog that was in the back of my brothers truck. This yellow lab was sitting in the back of my brothers truck looking at us like he was waiting for us. Obviously I still wasn't taking her hint because I had to tell her that I did not understand what she meant and she told me that the dog was my birthday present. I definitely didn't expect this. After I learned that he was meant to be mine, my first question was "Does mom and dad know about this?" Her reply was "Yes, we told them." Lets just say that Momma wasn't crazy about it but daddy seemed happy about it....lol....He is a 2 year old yellow lab, his name is Toby. When she told me his name I had to laugh because my niece goes by Tobi (Nickname bc her real name is just too much lol....long story)....I thought what are the odds?...Later on my 4 year old niece Taylor finds out about the dog and how it was a present from her and her little sister. She asks the name of the dog and asks, "Why did you name him only after Tobi (though he was already named from the previous owners)?" So she now calls him Tobi Taylor Efferson so that she is included in the name. Which I thought was too cute. Anyway this made my day.

horsey55 — Tue, 2011-01-04 06:26Happy Birthday, Jen.
What a terrific present. I had a yellow lab cross named Toby, too. Many good years ahead for both of you.

flboots — Mon, 2010-02-15 14:06HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN. Have a great day. Nice looking dog. When i saw you named it Toby I was thinking you named it after Toby Keith LOL.
Thanks. Lol. No I didn't
La_cowgirl21 — Mon, 2010-02-15 15:56Thanks. Lol. No I didn't name him. He came with his own name. Everyone thinks I named him after my niece that we call Tobi. But no it was already his name before he joined the family.

Thanks! I took him out
La_cowgirl21 — Mon, 2010-02-15 12:52Thanks! I took him out walking around our place so he can get used to both the area and the horses. I laughed because he barked at one and not the other...and it was the more tempermental horse he barked at. lol. He seems to be a very sweet dog and I already love him. Just cant help it. lol
