The Wife Chronicles Pt 2
lost cowboy — Wed, 2010-03-17 19:27
Along time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....... oh wait, that's another story.
Anyway..... #2 was actually introduced to me by being set up with me as a blind date. This set up was done by my longest known, dear friend Jen. She thought it was a good idea, since #2 and I were both divorced and would enjoy each others company.
Well I cut down the distance of this long distance dating relationship by 2000 miles compared to # 1. (see wife chron. pt 1) This one only started out 2 hours away. Perfect! You got to understand. While I was living in Wyoming, driving 2 1/2 hours round trip to town, was nothing. Two hours for a date, hey that fell well within my range. LOL
I digress. She, #2, was from coal country, central PA. This becomes important later in the story. The dating was going well until she quit her job and decided at that same time she was moving in with me.
Okay I'm game. This ain't my first rodeo. Things to me seemed to be going well. After close to a year, we decided to buy a house together. The day we closed on the house, we went by to see our house and once inside, I got down on one knee, took her hand, and proposed.
I thought 'ok, I'm ready to settle down FINALLY. Well she wasn't. I came home one day from work early, and as I drove by the front of the house I saw her sitting with a strange male (I was gonna say man but I still to this day don't consider him one) on the porch. I parked my truck in back of the house and walked around the front. Lo and behold the strange male DISAPPEARED. Magic! And she acted like nothing was strange at all. So I had to ask who it was.
I'm sure you can figure out the rest of the story except for a few finishing details.
We decide to try counseling shortly after she moved out. It came to an abrupt end when I figured out that she was scheduling dates with her new beau after our sessions. lol There's commitment for you!
Now here's the kicker. I am....how would you say....not very outwardly distinguished? I kept trying to figure out why she left me for some tire squealin, engine revving, truck insultin' bonehead, to put it nicely. You see this guy came across me in town one day and thought he was gonna really insult me by insulting my truck. And he was serious!
I don't know if y'all know the type, but they prove their manhood by squealing their tires at all stop signs, revvin' their engines, and lord knows starting fights by insulting someone else's truck.
So this is and was my conclusion on the matter. I was too sophisticated for her. ME! Hat wearin, manure on the boots, belt buckle me. This guy she left me for was an exact match for the type of guys she grew up with at home. If that's what y'all want, hey that's great but it's not me. Tires cost too much and you can't hear the beauty of quiet within the silence if you rev your engine to much. I'd tell you about the time this little man pointed a gun at me.... but that's a whole other story.
The lesson I learned from this is you can't take them out of their environment without them doing it themselves.
The good thing from this lesson is I got to keep my dogs this time.
Jen still apologizes to me to this day.
