The Old Days
McLintock — Sun, 2010-01-10 16:03
Today, when a was driving home from church I payed close attention to all the places were open on sunday and all the people there. Sunday afternoon is the best time for restaurants, because everyone goes out to eat after church. The wal-mart I live by is always packed on sundays, and you can count on all the big stores to be open. To big business sunday is just another day.
In the old days it was not that way, on matter if you were a christian or not. People took the day off to rest and spend time with their families, and they did not see it as another day to do the same old thing. Also people back then had a respect for other people. I do not and will not work on sundays, and I know a lot of christians who will not work on sundays. But these same people will go out to eat and go do the weekly shopping. My question to these people is, now you will not work on sundays, but you make others work on sundays, now is that a very consistent way of thinking?
Now I'am not try to convert anyone to anything, but I want people to see what this nation is doing to herself. Here in Kansas your place of work can not make you work on sundays because of your religion. My challage to everybody is just relax on sundays. No matter what your belief on the orgin of the world, the fact is God created it in 6 days and rested on the 7th.

La_cowgirl21 — Sun, 2010-01-10 16:39Great Post McLintock! Your right. Around here any restaurant is filled before some churches are even out. There is still a restaurant in my home town that closes on Sundays. The man that owns the place goes to church every Sunday so its possible that is why its closed. Only a handful of other places that I know of around here are closed for Sundays. I know I hated missing church when I was working at Bass Pro for a while. It just didn't feel right to me. That's one of the reasons I chose to go into a career of teaching. You get weekends, holidays, and summers. :-) Anyway that's just my take on it.
