Freckles the Dog
Oldcowboy — Mon, 2010-01-11 16:32
Let's see....Freckles first showd up at our door about 7 years ago. She was an older pup with one floppy ear and small spots on her nose, legs and belly. It was obvious that someone had dropped her off to get rid of her ; we live way out in the country and people do those kinds of things.
Anyway, as I would go out the door on my way to work I would pick up a small gravel stone and chuck it in her direction along with a ugly shout to "git". She would take off up the hill to my neighbors and there she would stay and look at me.
This went on for 4 or 5 days. I could never understand why she would be outside the kitchen door every morning.
Then one afternoon when I arrived home from work I discovered why she was always there. My dear wife had neglected to take in the water and food dish she put out every morning after I left.
So we called our two neighbors and asked if they wanted the dog and of course they did not. So we took Freckles in.
Now, as I look down at her laying at my feet as I write this, I can't imagine her not being here with me. She has become a wonderful companion.

Dogs we grow with
McLintock — Mon, 2010-01-11 18:57It's amazing how a dog can grow on us, and how we expect them to be their. And how we love to live with them and they become apart of the family.

THEY GROW ON YOU:
TALL IN THE SADDLE — Mon, 2010-01-11 18:55It never ceases to amaze me how attached we can get to our pets. It doesnt matter what it is cat, dog, gold fish. Y I remember when I was younger I even had a pet rock (lol). The point is that they grow on you.
