Shedding Time Again
Oldcowboy — Sun, 2010-03-14 09:22
Well that time of year that we all hold near and dear to our hearts is here again. Yup, shedding time.
For the past week every time I go out to the barn to get the late afternoons ration of hay for my horses, I grab the metal curry comb I use to remove the excess hair from their coats.
And believe it or not they enjoy the session. I mean, their undercoat and skin is itchy and the feel of the comb as I drag it lighly over their body obviously feels good. They just stand there contently eating hay and sort of zone out if you know what I mean. And it gives me an opportunity to talk to them, well you know, I tell them I'm grateful they don't kick me, bite me, stomp me or try to crush me while I comb out their winter coat.
So for the next little while I'll do this chore. But to me, it's not really a chore. Nothing I do with my horses is a chore.
Happy Trails y'all.

Cool oldcowboy! Amazing how
La_cowgirl21 — Mon, 2010-03-15 11:04Cool oldcowboy! Amazing how you can tell that a season is over by an action of an animal huh? And I dont mean the ground hog! lol. Speaking of horses liking the attention...we have a horse that loves to be scratched with a rake. She will stand there and let you rub her all over with the rake, its amazing!
