Harry Morgan: RIP
R.G. Yoho — Tue, 2011-12-13 19:20
As did many of my generation, I grew up with the acting of Harry Morgan, who passed away last week.
As a child, I watched him play the detective partner of Jack Webb in “Dragnet.” Later on, I enjoyed his work as Col. Potter in “MASH.” His career took him from black and white television screen to the color sets that now generally occupy every home in America.
Moreover, if you grew up a fan of the western genre, then it was simply impossible to escape the work of Harry Morgan, who appeared with some of the greatest actors of all time. In addition, he also appeared in some of the most famous westerns ever to appear on the big screen.
From the Gary Cooper western classic, “High Noon,” to “The Shootist,” John Wayne’s final acting performance, Harry Morgan also shared the screen with screen legends, such as Jimmy Stewart and James Garner.
If you truly love the western, then you’ve repeatedly been exposed to the outstanding character acting of Harry Morgan, a man who created some of the most beloved and enduring characters ever to appear on TV.
The man will definitely be missed.
