Several weeks ago, the wife had plan on me doing a simple barbecue. Often, I desire to take out several logs of dried mesquite and fire it up as I would for some fancy chuck wagon cooking. However, when the wife meant simple, she meant on the patio grill.

Coals are alright I suppose. However, I love the smoke flavor that woods give meat, pork or poultry. They add to that outdoor flavor of smoke which special woods like mesquite or hickory can give to your foods grilling. As I tried to make my point with my loving wife, she hands me this bag and says "Honey, I said simple".

Before I could try to make any argument over my point, I read the bag where it is stating REAL MESQUITE WOOD COALS. I turn the bag over and read the directions as it points out, good for one use, light bag on both ends and allow it to burn for 15 minutes then spread smooth in the grill and begin cooking. What could be any easier than this. Simple bag, no mess, lights easy, burns correct and the result, our STEAKS tasted with the same desired flavor had I done this from the chuck wagon but we did this right from our home patio. I sincerely was impressed with this commercial product that anyone now could cook as if straight from the chuck wagon.

Now for some Barbecue rules and humor that was sent to me by a good friend trying to get at my goat: Remember, this is just humor.

When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion: The routine........

(1) The wife buys the food.
(2) The wife makes salad, prepares vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3) The wife prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along
with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes
to the husband who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.
(4) The wife remains outside the compulsory three meter exclusion
zone where the exuberance of male bonding and other manly
activities which takes place without the interference of the wife.
(5) THE Husband PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
(6) The wife goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(7) The wife comes out to tell the husband that the meat is looking
great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer
while he turns the meat.

Important:

(8) THE Husband TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS
IT TO THE Wife.
(9) The wife prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins,
sauces, and brings them to the table.
(10)After eating, the wife clears the table and does the dishes.
and most important of all:
(11)Everyone PRAISES the husband and Thanks HIM for his
cooking efforts
(12)The Husband asks the wife how she enjoyed ' her night off '
and upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's
just no pleasing some women.

Just to let you know, women are wonderful and my wife sincerely deserves much credit. Oh, would it be to much to ask for another beer?
