THE RUNNING IRON:
TALL IN THE SADDLE — Fri, 2010-01-22 06:48
Hi all just had a thought and wanted to see if anyone feels the same as I do. Way back in the old days for thoses that dont know one term used to lable a rustler without actually comeing right out and saying the word"Rustler"(remember thats a fighting word) was to say that that person used a "Running Iron". Well back then rustling was as bad a crime as horse stilling and was meet with the same outcome(I belive most know what that outcome was) . Anyway they had a way to deal with such crimes and that keep it down. What do we do today? We throw them in jail for 3 to 6 months and they go right back and do the samething agian. What have we learned from this. Sure some will say that a person has rights and that to kill someone for stilling is not right, but isent it? I have made reference to my Grandfather before and I will doso here. I remember what he would do to keep crows out of his grarden. He would kill one and hang it on a poll to show the others what would happen to them(by the way it worked). Thats what we need to do. We have all heard it said "If it ant broke dont fix it. Well I think that some of the laws that are being passed are just stupid. I mean just yesterday I heard that here in Atlanta Ga. law makers passed a law making it legal for hand gun owners with carrying permits(which I have) to carry hand guns in city parks. Ok the only thing wrong with that is that we cant fire the guns inside the parks. How supid is that. I dont know about you but I think that sometimes you need to look back and learn from the passed.

my solution
pdfangus — Tue, 2010-01-26 05:50I have advocated a potential solution to address our crime problem and the liberals all regard me as insane.
My solution is that by law, on the first Saturday of every month there should be a public hanging at every county and city courthouse in the country.
Let the locality determine the selection procedure for who would be nominated for the honors but hang one every month.
If nothing else we would reduce the rate of repeat offenders and it might create a climate where the bad boys would prefer to not be in jail .

Justice
McLintock — Sat, 2010-01-23 18:11Tall in the Saddle is right with the fact that our justice in this country is all messed up. We need to go to what God's Word says "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth". If you do a crime you must face the same judgement, If you kill someone (on purpose or your drank or high) you should be put to death. You should have to pay for what you've done. No matter what your personal belief's are God's Word still stand's true. Let's clear out the prisons and hang all the murder's,The thief's repay what they stole, and so on and so forth. Also if every place in the country had a "right to carry" (which we do have a Constitutional right to, it is not up to the states) we would see crime go down and the U.S. a much safer place.

nighthawksh — Tue, 2010-01-26 12:57I guess I am a bit confused.
You refer to the 2nd amendment of our Constitution after infering the other rights spelled out in that very same Constitution be ignored?
We either adhere to our Constitution 100%, or we take action to amendmend that Constitution, or we ignore it 100%. There ain't no half way steps. It's all or nothing. (thankfully)
THANK YOU!!
TALL IN THE SADDLE — Sat, 2010-01-23 19:40Thank you for the comments. It means a lot a know that there are people who feel the same as I do.
I definitely agree that our
La_cowgirl21 — Sat, 2010-01-23 14:14I definitely agree that our laws in regards to justice need some work. But at the same time everyone needs to be held to the same standards as the rest. Not one set of rules for "normal people" and then a whole new set for celebrities or those who have money. How much your worth should not get you out of the trouble you cause. I fully believe we need harsher punishments for law breakers, and if you do the crime then you should do the time. Also, I believe if you violate someones rights because of your reckless and careless behavior you then lose yours. Less than two years ago, I lost my grandparents on my mothers side due to an accident caused by a guy who was drinking, on drugs, and running from the cops and came into their lane and hit them head on. I know that more than likely this guy will not get much if any time in jail because of how messed up our system is. It amazes me of how many chances people get at court to screw up. I've recently seen the judges "sentence" them to 5 to 10 years of jail time(from charges of DUI to drug charges) and then in the same breath suspend it and place them on 2-5 years of probation. No wonder people today aren't scared of our justice system. They know they are going to get away with it! I know that this guy going to jail will not bring back my grandparents or replace anything loss that we feel. But at the same time if something is done then at least some justice is served towards them. Sorry, this is just something I feel very strongly about!

running iron
flboots — Sat, 2010-01-23 07:16We do need to bring back good old western justice. A Fair Trial, and a First Class Hanning. This country is getting to soft on crime. Another Idea is to let people start going heeled. In order to carry you must take a course on the laws, and pay the fee. That way if they thing your packing, They wil think twice about robbing you.
Thanks
