As the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association celebrates its 75th anniversary, here's a look back at the organization that made the sport what it is today.

Perhaps ProRodeo Hall of Fame roughstock rider Larry Mahan said it best when succinctly recapping 75 colorful years of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA): “Life is like a bronc ride, full of ups and downs.” Mahan would know. While most know him as one of rodeo’s greatest champions, he didn’t get there overnight.

The 56th annual Miss Rodeo America concluded with a coronation ceremony at the ORLEANS Hotel and Casino. 28 States so magnificently represented by such remarkable ladies who exemplar the sport of professional rodeo. The pageant is held in conjunction with the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Each December a herd of some 120 qualifying cowboys—and cowgirls— make their way to Vegas to compete in rodeo’s main event—the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR).

Getting ready for 2009 WNFR in Las Vegas. Should be an absolute killer good time. This is the 25th anniversary of NFR in Vegas. There is so much to do and to see: Cowboy Christmas, NFR performances each night at T&M, National Finals Tonight at the Gold Coast, Buckle Ceremony at South Point- (make sure you take a photo with the Benny Binion statue), just to name a few.
