Western music
The Sons of the Pioneers burst onto the Western music scene in 1934—and made a star of Roy Rogers. More than 75 years later, the legendary ensemble remains the world’s premiere cowboy singing group.

Genoa Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival
billzc — Wed, 2010-12-22 10:23
The Genoa Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival is a wonderful blend of setting, heritage and western culture and entertainment. Nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada in the beautiful Carson Valley, historic Genoa is the site of the first ranch in Nevada and still has working cattle ranches literally steps from the town. From its 19th century beginnings, cowboys and ranching have shared work, words and music here. In 2010, this made the inaugural Genoa Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival a natural. Join us in 2011 as headliners Paul Zarzyski, Dave Stamey, Belinda Gail and Wylie & the Wild West take the stage. There's more, like workshops, galleries of art and collectibles and cowboy dinners and dances, all within historic Genoa. There's even a trail ride into the Pinenut Mountains. pryan — Thu, 2010-08-05 12:20
Spectacular scenes like those of John Wayne and James Stewart movies will be retold in live action this September as the Old West Festival – a one-of-a-kind event in Ohio – rolls back into town at its permanent site just 15 minutes from I-275, east of Cincinnati. The third annual Old West Festival – running weekends September 11 to October 10 – will transform rambling acreage of beautiful country into an authentic Dodge City Wild West town dating back to 1878.
Visitors will be stepping back in history to a time when famous lawmen like Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp reigned, where gamblers such as Doc Holiday played faro and Boothill was a place you didn’t want to be at the end of the night.
The permanent old west town will be educational and fun for the entire family. Store fronts will include antique, western-themed and hand-made crafts. Period interpreters will walk the streets, posing for photos or saying howdy. Cold beer, sarsaparilla, soft drinks and food will be served in the Long Branch Saloon. Young ‘uns will be able to pan for gold; watch puppet shows; participate in a family sing-along to period music like ‘Coming Round the Mountain’; and even get sworn in as deputies, that is if they take the official oath. It they choose, they’ll travel the frontier in covered wagons, on ponies or horses; riding the 19th century steam locomotive inspired Sante Fe Deadline, or visiting the pioneer village. Historically accurate shows will include medicine shows, saloon shows, magic, storytelling and can can dancers. And a variety of bluegrass acts will be on stage throughout the day…plus square dancing and much more. There will even be authentic jaw dropping gun fight reenactments by The Big Iron Rangers daily.
Festival times and hours are Saturdays and Sundays running September 11 to October 10 from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The Festival is located at 1449 Greenbush Cobb Rd between Mt. Orab and Williamsburg, Ohio just off St. Rt. 32.
Cost is $10 general admission; $6 for children ages 6 to 12; and children under 5 are free.

MO Cowboy — Tue, 2010-07-27 09:37
Each year, the members of the Chuckwagon Association of the West get together for a "Jamboree". It's a chance to say thanks to our loyal guests and a chance to swap bean recipes with the other chuckwagon groups.
This year, for the first time ever, the Jamboree will be held in Branson, Missouri, at Branson's Circle B Theatre! Each night will feature a different cowboy menu, with a different slate of performers, and different special guests!
Some folks have asked how this may be different from prior Jamborees.
1. We seat a maximum of about 370 guests, so you will get a closer, more intimate experience than some past Jamborees.
2. Because of our smaller number of seats, we are making 4 Jamboree show nights available, and offering different meals and special acts, to encourage folks to come to all 4 shows.
3. We are pleased to offer reasonably-priced tickets that are a bargain compared to other Branson shows, with a full meal included each night -- and a huge discount on the fourth night's tickets! About 3 hours of entertainment are scheduled for each night.
4. Doors open at 4:15 PM with free popcorn and cowboy movies.
This year's lineup is as follows:
October 24 Sunday
1. Riders of the Circle B (Branson)
2. Circle B Cowboys (Black Hills)
3. Dusty Rogers (speaking on Roy Rogers Riders Club rules)
4. Bar –D Wranglers
October 25 Monday
1. Flying W Wranglers
2. Circle B Cowboys (Black Hills)
3. John Wain (John Wayne impersonation)
4. Bar –D Wranglers
October 26 Tuesday

3. Johnny Lonestar (rope & gun tricks- America's Got Talent top 10 finalist)
4. Flying W Wranglers
October 27 Wednesday

2. Flying J Wranglers
3. Travis Loewen (cowboy poetry)

AND JUST ADDED: a Pre-Jamboree show on Saturday, October, 23, 2010, with a split bill: Branson's Riders of the Circle B and the Diamond W Wranglers from Wichita, Kansas (the former performing group from the former Chuckwagon of the West "Prairie Rose").
