Carrying Firearms
I never thought I would be the owner of not one but two pistols. My newest is a 2"barrel Smith & Wessen 38, I always take it with me when I go out. It is sad but years ago I only took a pistol with me when I went out in the woods, (just to scare away any "big" animals I might come across) ;now when I even go to the local store I make sure I have my gun on me. The crime rate is doubled and you can't even look a stranger in the eye. I joined the NRA recently to try and protect my rights to carry a concealed weapon. What has become of my safe little corner of the world?
Many thanks for making the sincere effort to explain this. I feel fairly strong about
it and would like to read more. If it's OK, as you find out more in depth knowledge,
would you mind writing more posts similar to this one with more information

I am pretty conservative, not looking for anything too flashy. Thinking about a Gus in a light grey with a stampede string and horsehair band. It's bad enough that I carry in the woods, not because of the animals I might encounter, but because of the the humans I might encounter.

I live in the country. When I need a cop right now, they're only 15 minutes away. Our founding fathers knew this, and they knew the government couldn't protect all the people everywhere, so they added the second amendment. The interesting thing is that the militia phrase was an afterthought. Is the Army, or the National Guard, our militia. Definitely not. Read the 5th amendment, the whole amendment, not just the part about double jeopardy or being a witness against yourself. The 5th amendment specifies "land or naval forces, or in the Militia"..... Showing that our founders knew the militia was different than our organized land and naval forces. The militia is, 'We, the People'... and it's like the old saying goes, "When Guns are Outlawed, Only Outlaws will have guns"...
I'm glad I'm an American, most of the time...

...'The states could require...?' Nuh-uh... the PEOPLE shall require that the states recognize and submit to the Constitution. The 1st 10 Amendments of which comprise the Bill of Rights. McDonald vs Chicago resulted in the 2nd Amendment being incorporated against the states,
SCJ Scalia defined 'Arms' and SCJ Ginsburg (of all people) defined 'Bearing Arms': " ‘wear, bear, or carry . . . upon the person or in the clothing or in a pocket, for the purpose . . . of being armed and ready for offensive or defensive action in a case of conflict with another person.’ ” . . . Although the phrase implies that the carrying of the weapon is for the purpose of “offensive or defensive action,” it in no way connotes participation in a structured military organization."
There goes the militia argument. I carry a 1911-A1 .45acp openly everywhere, everyday. At home I carry a DW-40 (.40 S&W)
AzC Art 2 Sec 26: The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself or the state shall not be impaired, but nothing in this section shall be construed as authorizing individuals or corporations to organize, maintain, or employ an armed body of men.' Pretty simple language. 'Been in effect since 1912. No 'training'... no infringement at all. If you're gonna carry that smoke wagon ya better know how and when to use it.

We have made great strides here in Az this year in gun owner rights. Thanks to Gov. Jan Brewer and no nonsense representatives We now do not need a CCW permit to carry concield, There are many other bills that were signed into effect that favor the gun owners. The Az. Citizens Defence League has worked hard in their lobbying endevors to have these bills become law. With the unrest in this state at the present due to the current administrations blind eye attitutude towards illegals and drug smuglers more people are carrying then ever.

We should be allowed to open carry as they do in a couple of states. It is a 2sd Amend. right. The states could require you to take a class and sign a document stating that you know the laws about firearm use. If the bad guy even thinks your heeled, they will think twice.
Yes, I feel the same way , never imagined I would own a gun. But the way people and kids are today you always need some protection. But even so I feel it is so dangerous that almost anyone can get a gun from any guns for sale business. There should be more strict regulations, and you now that saying to much freedom is dangerous.
I have carried for most of my life, especially when I retired and started travelling. I refuse to become a victim.
However, one must be sure to comply with the laws of the area they are in.
And, as we discussed on another thread, one must be prepared to actually use that weapon if need be.
Bad people have always been with us. Because there are more people, there are naturally more bad guys.
Be safe.

I know what you mean, I feel the same way. Its sad we cant just trust any ol joe walkin around town anymore. Better safe than sorry though, its a good feeling to know your not completely helpless against some kind of attack. I still live in a little town, but when I visit the cities, its ridiculous. Ive had some close calls.
