Dating
For all you single folks out there:
How important is it for you to date another cowboy or cowgirl?
Personally, I'd rather date my own kind, but it seems like they're harder and harder to find.
New Zealand girl here wanting to meet real life cowboy.

You know, I have tried to date guys who were "different" than me...which means guys who were not "country." It just does not work! And I know this sounds crazy...but if a guy does not hunt and fish It does not last long at all...So yes I have learned that for it to work the guy I date has to like things like outdoors stuff such as fishing, hunting, horseback riding, etc....Most city guys want a girl who does not get dirty or who is prissy....thats just not me lol. I mean dont get me wrong I clean up as nice as any girl but i'm not scared to get dirty and love being outside!

Dating one of your 'own kind' is probably the easiest thing for a relationship. It provides the safe and secure area of having few debates on differences. Your own kind will understand your prejudices, likes and dislikes. When you decide to do something, it will make it easier to agree where to go, what to see, who to be with, etc.
What it may not do, is add the spice and enjoyment of new experiences. But, some people do not want the differences and actually fear someone who is not like them. This of course is carried over in personal life as it is in dating. We often chose who we are and what we think by the safety of being with our 'own kind'. Be careful of this isolation because it may lead to an intolerance for others simply because of a prejudice. What happens than is a 'belief' of who and what other people may 'appear' to be, rather than the truth of real people.
I advise you to be as you are and enjoy the differences of someone you chose to be wtih. That being said, if you or her, do not want to share the differences than you have a totally different problem. You need to be willing to share and enjoy each other's differences. This is true in all of life, and I would be less of a person if I did not keep an open mind and heart for what is different from me. This is where knowledge and love comes from.
I had a cowgirl but I let her go. In, the words of a Travis Tritt song, "chalk another heartbreak up to foolish pride." I have a great girl now but she can never understand what I love about horses and cattle. She doesnt like to go to the rodeo and refuses to come if I compete. there arent many cowgirls left out there and a man is lucky when he can get one.
