First Gun
Hey ya'll, just want to start a forum about your first gun. So what was your first gun.
Mine was a Stevens single-shot 16 gauge, and yes it hard to find shells, I bought it when I was 15 years old at the pawn shop that was down the street from work for $60.

My first firearm was a Remington 1187 12 gauge. Since then, and having become a police officer, I've acquired a few more.
Now, I own
Sig P229 .40cal
S&W M&P .40 cal sub-compact
S&W 442 .38 spl
S&W 642CT .38 spl
Para Ordnance LDA1445 Ltd .45
Glock 22 .40 cal
Remington 870 12 gauge
Bushmaster Ar-15 A2
Remington 700 SPS Varmint .308
Most of these are obviously police related. My 7 year old daughter got her first rifle last Christmas from Santa. It was a Henry Golden Boy .22. I think Santa will probably bring daddy a Henry Big Boy in .44 Mag this year so we can be alike.
I just wont get to go shoot with her until I get back from Afghanistan in March. :(

Mine was a New England Firearms 12 guage single shot. The first day I had it I shot so mant clays that I had a HUGE bruise on my shoulder
Wish I never got rid of it.
Hi, my first gun is a Colt D.A. 41 - reg. # 179 750
My research has narrowed the manufacturing date to sometime just before 1900. According to the reg. number, it is similar to the the Army Colt of that period, but the gun was probably used by a cowboy on the range. I do have access to the history of it for the last 50 so years.
When I purchased the gun it came with a belt, holster and a full box of ammo, manufactured under the name of Buffalo Arms Co., catalog #030606 3245, believe that is an east coast company.
I have never fired it, not sure I would.
Don't ask me why I bought it, it just seem to have my name on it. Oh well, some of us are just plain weird.
THE VERY FIRST FIREARM I OWNED WAS A EUROARMS MODEL 1873 IN 44 / 40, IT LOOKED THE PART BUT WAS NOT TOO EFFECTIVE OVER 150 METERS. STILL MISS IT !
S&W 9mm was given to me as a wedding gift. :o)

My first gun was a Fox 20 Ga. side by side with 2 barrels. One was a 20" Improved and Mod, while the second was a 26" Mod. and Full. It was a wonderful lightweight field gun. I wish I never sold it.....
My first handgun was a Ruger Super Single Six, .22 and .22 Mag.....
Kansas Jack
Wards Western 12ga. double barrel
Well, my first gun was one of those silver metal "revolver" cap guns when I was about five or six.
Didn't get a real one of my own for a long time afterward - Mossberg 360 12ga shotgun and then a Springfield XDM 9mm.
Acquired several others after those but they were my first 'real' guns.
Mine is/was a Ruger 9mm. But I think I still count my M-16 A2 From the Army first.
Mine was a .30-.30 winchester given to me by my Grandfather. I must have been around fourteen. He had given me BB guns at seven, but they don't really count. I still have that one, in really good shape.
Just passin' through

Good reading fellas. My first was my grandfathers 30-40 Krag Jorgensen carbine model 1896. I had already been into guns big time and I about fainted. I was 12. Soon after I bought my first shotgun, a winchester ranger 120. 12 gauge pump. Still got em both, and many more. Guns have been my biggest hobby. My son is 7 and already has 3 of his own. Father of the year award, here I come!
"I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from goin insane!"
The first gun I ever had was a Ruger 10/22 from my older brother, but I am most proud of the oldest gun that I got. A year later my great grandma gave me her Winchester 16gauge shotgun that she used to hunt quail and chuckar with, with my grandpa and thier friends. Now that is classic!

30-30 Winchester. It was passed down from my grandfather. He shot his first deer with it when he was 16. My father shot his first deer with it when he was 16 and then I shot mine with it at 16. The gun is seriously dead on for shooting and probably one of the best rifles to shoot without a scope.
mine was a marlin 44 rifle, a saddlegun, I was in the navy and transfered. Wish i didnt sell it.
Mine was a JC Higgins single shot 22. Cost $12. 00 JC higgins was a Sears brand many years ago> I got it when I was 9 years old.
Mine was a 22 savage,
Think my dad got it for me at the western auto store.
But man that was a straight shooting 22, haven't had one that good since. No scope just a sight.
Thought I was all that back then.
made me laugh to to read the "all that comment" cause I thought I was all that and then some! was hittin 23 out of 25 at the skeet range, I was unstoppable. Always considered myself lucky that my dad introduced me to the outdoors and hunting, even though we didn't really get along all the time we always had a good time hunting together. Amazing how much land has dissapeared since then.........
harrington and richardson 12 ga. junior model, think I got it when I was 14. My dad took me skeet shooting quite a bit that year and I got to be a real good shot with that gun. Got two ducks my first day hunting with my dad, I'll never forget that. Funny even though Quite a bit of time has gone by since those days I never shot as well as I did with that single shot shotgun, those semi's and 31/2 never make a difference without PRACTICE. :)
1st rifle: Winchester 22 single shot given to me by my faher when I turned 8.
1st shotgun: Model 42 winchester 410, again a gift from my dad when I was 10
1st larger caliber: Savage model 99 250/3000 bought with my allowance, 12 years old (got my first deer with this one.)
1st hand gun: Smith & Wesson K-22
have owned many, many since then. wish I still had those old ones, especaill that model 42.
I was 12 and it was a single shot 12 guage from Sears. I am pretty sure that it came from the catalogue and mailed to dad where he hid it under the tree for Christmas. Try that today and you can see the 'political correct' and government intervention people' falling out of the tree. LOL

My first gun was a single shot 410 shotgus so i could go rabbit hunting with my dad.
He loved to hear his rabbit dogs chase a rabbit but I never knew him to kill a rabbit.
Before too long he was carrying the 410 and I had graduated to the double barrel savage 16 gauge. I slayed a lot of rabbits over the years.
I still have both guns and a few more acquired over the years.

My dad gave me a .22 rifle when I turned 10, and provided lessons on how to clean, maintain and fire the rifle safely. Firearm safety was (and is) the utmost importance, and I've always kept all those lessons in mind as I've used hand guns and long guns.
I grew up and eventually left the farm to become a police officer. Those early lessons and safety tips helped me become a very accurate marksman. I've worked in the oilfield for the last 28 years, but still miss the days when I was in law enforcement. These days, I practice shooting skeet, paper targets and even use an old tin can from time to time. Talk about a "throwback" in time!
Good topic and post, McLintock.
As i'm concerned i haven't had the chance to have a true gun but only guns toys. Lol it's cause i'm from France and to wear weapons here is not allowed.
However, i'm still glad to have four plastics guns: a colt 45 and 3 others, one of the army and 2 little pistols.
Lol! I prefer true guns of course;)
