What's the price of hay in your town? Has it gone up, down, or remained steady over the last year?
(Please include cost per bale and where you live.)

I'm fortunate here in West Central Missouri, in that I can get good quality grass hay for $30. to $35. for large round bales, and $35. for large squares. When I say good quality grass hay I mean hay that has minimum weed and junk content. I don't feed alfalfa 'cuz it's too hot for the mules and donks, and the horses really don't need it since the grass hay is so good. Small squares will run $3. a bale, when you can find them. With 15 head, I'm interested in the greater value of the large bales. The large squares of Brome @ $40. are convenient when I'm feeding mares in foal and I'm keeping them fescue free in their diets for the last 90 days of their pregnancy. I keep them off the open pasture which has fescue mixed in, and the big squares enable me to control the quantity and quality of their feed.

Im getting 130# bales of good alfalfe for $8 a bale. I did get a load out of the Dome Vally down by yuma in July that was threshed alfalfe for $2.50 a bale. Hay down there on the border is a lot cheeper then up here on the Mogollon Rim. Big bales of Bermuda down there run $5 a bale max.

Grass/alfalfa mix, square bales around $5/bale. Premium grass can be as much as $7/bale. I live in the west!

SCHERER QUALITY FARMS- Florida I might add that prices here haven't fluctuated a whole lot on the rolls. Bails are up give and take, depending on fuel prices in most cases. All is about the same for the most part.
