We live in Dallas & go often. It is an awesome experience. Mesquite has the Real Texas Festival every year. It is fun for all ages. We went to the MCR recently & saw Tracy Lawrence perform after the rodeo. That was awesome. It is fun to see a rodeo & a concert. It is a good family atmosphere to bring kids. My son, niece & nephews loved it. Highly recommended.

The Mesquite Championship Rodeo has been in operation since 1958 and they know how to do rodeo! (Full disclosure -- I am the director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau in Mesquite.) The arena is fully enclosed and air-conditioned, and was created for rodeo. The events are PRCA-certified and you can enjoy watching talented cowboys compete in bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing (cowgirls, obviously!), team roping and steer wrestling. There's a fabulous gift shop, free face-painting for the kids, as well as pony rides or a petting zoo for a small fee. You can also enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner there -- and the ticket prices are quite reasonable. I've been a number of times and I would highly recommend it!
