photos and videos?
how do we add photos and video to the community pages and blogs?
Wait, that came out wrong. The addition of that capability is a relatively simple programming fix given their existing software allows for it. I'd think that the issue is more relative to the fact that so many people abuse the privilege of being able to do such things increasing the workload on individuals charged with administering the site rather than the mechanical capability of the software. However that being said, I would think it well-worth the work on the part of the company and the administrator to keep pace with the average site. Something I've noticed is that the horse community is a tightly-knit community that would rally around a site designed specifically for them.. or us I should say. I couldn't help but notice that a number, indeed the vast majority, of the posts are quite old on the American Cowboy site and that shouldn't be.They're a class act publication and I'm certain if their site kept pace with what's current in site capabilities, they'd have a loyal following which, instead of heading over to YouTube or Facebook to avail themselves of pictures and video, would stay with the AC site.
As I said, I'm new to the site but not to the Internet or video production and distribution and I couldn't help but notice a number of deficiencies compared to a up-to-date, content-rich site. I do hope they see the light. Nothing would please me more than being able to visit, contribute to and recommend a horse-specific site that felt like family but not being able to write or even to read, content that is visually deficient doesn't promote loyalty in me. Again, AC is a great publication but the site is, technologically and unfortunately, stuck in the erly 2000s and I say that with all due respect to the publication.
Mechanically through revisions to the site or personally as the site exists today. I'm not affiliated with the site so I don't know the software that they're employing but adding that capability by the administrator is a relatively simple thing.
Forgive me; I'm new. I just found your site and, as a reader of the magazine, decided to try my hand at a Blog. I too question why the functionality of the site fails to allow for video or multiple pictures. True, its a concern that inappropriate content would be uploaded but then again, it would seem that as all publications work hard to get folks to their site that having them leave for a more robust site seems counter-intuitive. Have you made any decision on the future of content? Also, as an aside, why I keep getting an annoying message that your spam filter thinks what I write is constantly spam forcing me to complete another action is, well, annoying. Might think about fixing that as well. Like to stay with you but... seems like alot of annoying things.

I think that the ability to add photos of our stock and our dogs and the nice events in our life would be a big step in allowing us to get to know one another better.
We have to depend on human civility to keep things in line.
Ban or block posters who post obscene or otherwise objectionable material.
I have been on several forums over the years and have never seen a serious problem with undesirable material. I have been the moderator of several groups for years and only once have i ever had to even warn anyone and that was over political commentary which was verbotten by the group owner.

pdfangus: There have been talks about adding said functions to user profiles where you can create photo albums which may be structured around topics such as the ones you've brought up.
We'll keep you posted. Thanks for the thoughts everyone.

I'm not so sure we want folks posting pics in the forum. What do you think?
As for the blog, I'll fix that.

Once in a while its impossible to do an image justice by description....and as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I didn't think about people posting things that would not be appropriate for the site...If members are allowed to post pictures maybe they should be approved before the post can be successful within the forum? Not really a big deal to me if we don't post pictures though.
