Riding season
Spring is coming in slow here in Utah. The mountains are still deep in snow and everything else is wet.
I'm dying to get riding again. I don't do much winter riding because my schooling eats up my time.
I got to thinkin. What's my favorite season of the year to go riding in?
The glory of Utah is that we do have 4 very different seasons. It's hot and dry in the summer and it's cold and dry in the winter. We are hurting for water and rain in the summer and have the some of the best skiing in the world during the winter. Therefore each time I go out it's different.
I'm not a big fan of summer riding. I hate the heat and so to get to where it's cool we've got to go way up in the mountains. It's beautiful, but sometimes that takes more time than I can afford to spend.
Fall is BEAUTIFUL! I love the leaves. I love the cool weather. And I can scout for deer while I'm out.
Winter is cold and the snow gets deep enough on our land to make me not even want to try. We usually stick to the arenas and my little bro practices his roping and laughs as I try it and end up looking like a fool.
Spring is fresh, clear and beautiful. I love it, but it is muddy everywhere. It's worth it though especially after a long winter.
So...after my aimless rambling, I'd say my favorite season would have to be spring. Probably due to the lack of winter riding, but the mountains are just beautiful when they green up. It's cool and clear.
So what's your favorite season and why?
My favorite season would have to be Spring. I love to ride in the woods when the trees and flowers start blooming out and every thing starts getting green. I hate the Winter when it's so cold and dreary. I hate to be all bundled up in a coat. Here in South Alabama we usually dont have a cold winter. This winter was one of the coldest that I remember and also we had a lot of rain. Summer would be my next favorite... sitting in your chair on the beach and watching and listening to the waves is almost as relaxing as being horseback riding in the woods.
Location
All though I do Iike the spring as well, with the flowers and trees in bloom and a little more sun to warm are days. But, I would have to say that fall is my favorite time of the year. The days are cool and crisp the leaves are showing the brilliant colors of reds, yellows and browns. There is a smell in the air, that I just cannot explain, but it makes me want to be outdoors all the time. And it is great for saddling up and going for a long ride.
