Congratulations to Tom Selleck on getting inducted to the Hall of Great Performers at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Dates for the weekend April 16th-18th in wonderful OKC.

I attended the event when Sam Elliott was inducted and it was very humbling. Great event, great people and a wonderful experience.
See you there.

I've seen probably all cowboy movies with Tom Selleck and he does look like he belongs in the saddle. Also, it's pretty obvious he genuinely likes horses. That works for me.
I will agree though, Sam Elliot has that cowboy persona even when not playing the role of one. I'm glad they both got the recognition they deserve. It would be a great pleasure for me to meet one or both of them in real life. I've had a crush on them for years. I've always had a thing for cowboys.

More News on Tom as Jesse Stone.
Lastest TV movie will be May 22, 2011. Check your local listings, it's title is Innocents Lost.

Tom Sellack does sit a horse like he was born there, but he also comes across as Magnum PI and a Jesse Stone. His Quigley Down Under and Monte Walsh and all the Sacket roles support any western awards he gets.
Sam Elliot sets a horse as well as any western performer and as well as Tom, his movie roles put him on the same rung as any western actor.
The difference boils down to looks. Tom has those pretty boy looks with dimples while Sam has the rugged sun hardened features.

I'm a Tom Selleck fan, whether he's a cowboy or Jesse Stone. But, to pick one as the greatest Cowboy actor is difficult because there are so many young guys out there who've never seen Gary Cooper (High Noon & others), and many of the cowboy stars from the black and white days. I still enjoy watching a good Western like 'The Unforgiven' or "Open Range'.......But my all time favorite is 'High Noon',

In my opinion both actors play great cowboys. However, I have to agree that away from the silver screen Sam Elliott seems to have more of a cowboy personality.
I'm not going to compare actors here, we all have preferences and tastes and all that, but nobody can sit here and say Tom Selleck ain't right there with the best of them...
From Monte Walsh to the Sackets and Shadow Riders, he's a heck of a good actor and I think he deserves this recognition.

I know Selleck spent his time on a horse in front of a camera, but just can't say, for me, he compares to a guy like Sam Elliott who, even when he's not playing a cowboy, seems to ooze a true cowboy spirit.
