Wales - not in England!
In your 'Tall but True' story (p.22, August/September issue) you refer to Florian Holzinger's win 'In Wales, England'. As a British (English) reader, I can assure you that any Welshman who read that would not be amused. Wales and England are two different countries, although both are part of the United Kingdom. The correct way to phrase it would have been 'Wales, UK', or 'Wales, Great Britain'.

Lucy,
The latest issue of 'Motorcyclist' magazine (Feb. 2011) has a nice article by Peter Starr, revisiting his ride around Wales that he made 45 years ago on a Triumph motorcycle. The article is titled,"Tales From Wales, Revisiting the land of unpronounceable place names."

I agree, Lucy. I have a good friend who's dad was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. Never, never tell a Scotsman that Scotland is part of England.. That would provoke a fight.
