I wanted to place Will rogers into the greatest cowboy competition but that just did not seem to be fair to cowboys or Will Rogers. While he was a cowboy, his fame did not come within what we consider a cowboy way of life. His fame came with his ability to make Americans think and he just happened to come from the cowboy life. He never gave up this love of horses and even in his Hollywood days, ranching was a big part of his life.

His ranch house in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles is a treasure for the California State Park system and you should visit if the chance arises. The stables and polo field are still there and even used today. You might see a star or Hollywood celebrity competing out there. It is quite a treat.

Will Rogers is probably best known for his quotes on every subject you can think of. Even today, famous people, politicians, actors, and average Joes can depend on finding a quote on almost any subject you desire. Here are just a few:

These are just a few of his quotes. Some have meanings that make you stop and think. I believe that is why Will Rogers loved commenting as he did on so may things in life that he saw and wondered about. He did not try to explain his meaning, he left it up to you. He loved all men no matter where he met them or what they believed. He loved the American way of life that accepted all people even if they ere non-believers, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, pagans, spiritlists or just simply the average Joe. He saw that what made Amercia great was not just the acceptance of people different than us but that we would defend others (even fight and die for them). It is the American way that we can be proud of even today.
