Your favorite non-country music and/or artists
I think there's this thing here, we all enjoy and love country music, but it'd be a kick to find out who loves what outside country music.
I for example hate that pop music crap, and I mean the Shakera and Christina Agelera stuff. I don't particularly enjoy metal either, not anymore. I have no words to describe rap, free speech and all but I'd make that illegal!
But hey, I still play Snkynrd and break out the Les Paul when I feel like playing some Allman Brother's stuff. I betcha a lotta people here love Stevie Ray and the music he played. I do, so much so I bought me one of those SRV Strats in the 90s. Still got it, beaten up and bruised, but don't they say guitars look like the owner?
SRV, BB King, Muddy Waters, it's really great stuff and the foundation of so much music today. I guess it's impossible to play guitar without knowing about them, but beyond that, it's good stuff. After all, didn't Chris say even cowboys like a little bit of R&R?
Oh Lord, the stuff you talk about when you're sick and stuck indoors!
I like to listen reggae music.

I appreciate music from the Louisiana State. That twang of french sung words through country beats and Zydeco sounds. It's a great break to hear but then my mama was from Monroe, La and a Cajun Queen who married a North Dakota Gentleman, then raised her child in Texas all lean and mean...I mean clean....LOL.... If it sets you to thinking and wanting to sing along, I think its worth listening too. I just heard a song by a guy name Joey Green and it just stuck in my head the rest of the day. I like that in a song. Be it country, rock or what ever....

Funny, I tried to listen to that stuff, can't get used to it.
I like Springsteen though, some of his older stuff is quite good in my opinion. I also like some of Bon Jovi's music, gotta admit I got interested because of those Young Guns movies, but it's nice.
I feel the same way about this new country music thing. It ain't country, it's something else. I won't complain too much about that because it could be worse, but the entire thing feels mass-produced and corporate. Sometimes I just can't tell who's who, they all sound the same, look the same...
Zeppelin is a bit strange, some of that music is weird to say the least. Still, "whole lotta love" is a nice song to play. Metallica, that's too wild for me!

I like jazz a lot, some blues...I like Jimmy Buffet I have most of his CD's. The steel drums...island music is really relaxing to me, And of course I like classic rock ZZ top, Led Zeplin etc.
Being the age I am, I mostly play stuff from back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, country, western, and rock, with a little bit of blues, jazz, and bluegrass thrown in.
I don't listen to any "pop" music of today, very little of what they are now calling country, and never rap.
I agree with you Flunky on that rap music.. I cant stand the stuff. I like ZZ top, Skynard, Stevie Ray, Van Halen. I like Shinedown and there's a few metalica songs I like as well as oldies from the 60's.
