Morning, ladies
horsey55 — Tue, 2010-12-14 05:55Morning to you all, ladies.
I'm new to this group and new to this site itself. I'm a resident of Willow Springs, Illinois which is a southwestern suburb of Chicago.
I live about seven minutes from where my horse is boarded right across the street from some of the best trails in the southwest suburbs. I've been lucky enough to be a horsewoman from the age of 5 and a riding instructor/trainer since 16. Have to have a regular job to keep my horse in a manner in which he has become accustomed, but we all know what that's like.
My horse is named Preston and he's a registered 15 year old saddlebred gelding. He stands 17 hands and is a liver chestnut. He's best on trail and will ride English or Western. He likes western best.
Keep on riding, ladies.
Yeehaw!
ThunderBandit — Mon, 2010-11-22 17:53Woo! Cowgirl right here for ya! I admire all the females that go out in the rodeos and try to prove to some of the men that think "Women can't do worth a hoot" wrong! Especially those who barrel race, which happens to be my all time favorite sport in the world. My only sport I enjoy watching! Hoping to learn it one day! I'm just learning the simple of horseback riding as a start though!
Yeehaw! Proud To Be An American Cowgirl!
Critters
Rose Dunn — Sun, 2010-06-13 12:25Looking forward to talking to others who love the code and their critters...Woodroe Call and I are as active as 5 horses, 2 Heelers (Blue and Misty) 2 cats (Rowdy Yates and Smokey Joe) let us old folks be...Love relating stories about them
Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
cowgirls
casey shipley — Mon, 2010-02-08 17:14you gotta admit you have to admire the strength and toughness a cowgirl has. my cousin keeps trying each time she fails in rodeo and other things cause she remembers the words of my grandpa. i think all cowgirls have a good spirt that tells them to keep trying. i like to see it when and how often they do.
that you do and they look
bullrider123 — Mon, 2010-07-19 04:33that you do and they look pretty when they get dressed up for church or a rodeo. there aint no down side to them but there to dam independent but that is OK i like it

American Cowgirl...
smiles4miles — Sun, 2010-03-28 18:34I just went to this site. Beautiful photos...I love Connie Reeves' motto. How true. I apply it to everyday situations too. We have to be tougher...life's not been a bowl of cherries for me that's for sure. Great motto to live by! LOL.

Miss Martha....
PrairieWylde — Mon, 2010-03-15 22:13Miss Martha aka Martha Josey - "One tough lady and an inspiration to people of all ages. A true cowgirl".
Bertha Blancett - responsible for women in rodeo after being the first woman to ride a bronc in Cheyenne.
Wantha Davis - of my home state of Kansas. Paved the way for the female jockeys of today. She has quite the history...and what a history it is.
Margie Roberts Hart - also from my home state of Kansas. Broke horses as a grade schooler and went on to ride rough stock, winning Cheyenne in 1940. Ladies Bronc Riding Champion.
Charmayne James - First barrel racer in rodeo history to win more money than any PRCA cowboy during a single rodeo season.
So many more outstanding ladies (past and present) that are the epitome of "Cowgirl Up."
It's taken them all to pave the way for the ones to follow.
How 'bout them Cowgirls?
