tentwo β Fri, 2010-02-12 01:17I have joined a church about tow years ago,before that I was about 13 when I last went.I enjoy my church now it is interdenominational.I head up a men group that meets once a month for breakfast to talk about GODS word and to have fellowship.I really like this website and this is my first time to post anything.

John T β Sat, 2010-02-13 18:10I go to a catholic church, but sometimes I go to other churches, protestant. The fear of god to me means you could be in alot of trouble for the things you have done. Also you should fear god as you would your parents when you were younger. I am not versed in the bible as you guys are so please do not take offense to my opinion on this. Don't make me more afraid than I need to be:) I think It takes alot to interpet the bible as it should be, the reason I say this is because I have experienced people (friends, co-workers)doing and saying things that weren't in the spirit of the word- these People were very serious about studying the book and understanding its meaning, and like I said they still did and said things that were contradictory to thier faith. I don't hold them in balme for that, I just chaulk it up to them being human. Just my opion.

I have been going to a couple of different Bible study groups and I try on my own to interpret what the bible is trying to teach me, and I still to this day have a hard time with it. So I really do try to watch what I say around other people.

McLintock β Sun, 2010-02-21 19:28Cowgirl at heart, you can not interpret the bible on your own, all it will led to is wrong doctrine. Scripture interprets Scripture. You can not read one verse at a time, to interpret Scripture rightly you must read the whole passage, follow the thought of the writer. And search the Scriptures on what else it says on the subject at hand. In other words you do not need a outside source to interpret Scripture.

McLintock β Mon, 2010-02-01 15:55We as Christians need and must be thankful for our pastor. I have been going to the church I attend of about a year and a half, and I am grateful that God as lead me to Victory Baptist Church. As I look back at all the Lord as done in my christian walk, I realized that I would still be a "baby christian". I recall a passage in Romans 10:14 "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? So we need to think God for the wisdom He has given our preacher/pastor. He is the one the Holy Spirit uses to expound the Word to us. We also need to pray for our pastor, because he is Christ under-shepherd, and as he study's for the weeks message's. also his health.

La_cowgirl21 β Mon, 2010-01-18 01:11Please keep my 20 month old niece Tobi in your prayers. She has a really bad ear infection. We ended up with her tonight and currently trying to get her settled down. Its now 2:10am here and it appears its going to be a long night.

La_cowgirl21 β Sat, 2010-02-06 22:49Thanks! She finally got over the partial ear infection that the doc said she had. Was doing good for a few weeks. Now my sister-in-law is saying that she is getting sick again. It's because of this weather we are having. One day its warmer out and the next its freezing cold. She was real fussy tonight. She is not one to just sit around but tonight she just laid on my shoulder while I was visiting over there.

McLintock β Sun, 2010-01-17 16:53This morning in sunday school my pastor continued a series on the Ten Commandments. We looked at the eighth commandment " You shall not steal" and at Judas the thief John 12:1-8. Where does stealing start? Where will it end? What does stealing involve? Will let me tell you it involves, taking something that is not yours, not paying a worker fair wages, keeping God's tithe (Malachi 3:8-10), and so much more we do not realize. So my challenge to ya'll is to look at how much you do steal, O you may not think you do, but look truthfully at your sinful nature and you will see that you do.

McLintock β Wed, 2010-01-13 15:44Hey, just wanted to tell ya'll about two conferences: Together for the Gospel, April 13-15 Louisville,KY there website is www.t4g.org ( I listen to the messages from the 2008 conference a lot). The other one is August 3-5 at my chruch in Kansas City,MO, it is our 29th conference and it will be on Revival, you can go to www.victorybaptist.us and go to 2010 conference link.

Hymns or not
McLintock β Mon, 2010-01-11 17:48Just wanted to get everyone in the group to tell if your chruch sings just hymns, "worship music" (songs writin in the past 20-30 years or so), or maybe both, or even the Psalms. Here at Victory Baptist we sing only Hymns.

theasmith β Tue, 2010-02-02 21:45At our church, (and the ones we've attended in the past) we sing only the old hymns with a few newer "hymns" that were written in recent years (Majesty Hymnal) but still convey the style of the older ones.
Worship songs at church
La_cowgirl21 β Mon, 2010-01-11 18:30We used to sing a mixture of them when I was growing up. We seem to sing more of the "worship music" that they have on the radio now. Sometimes the guy who leads worship will get out some of the old songs or even sing the hymns. Have to say I miss the older stuff we used to sing.

The text was Galatians 6:14 "But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world". So the subject we looked at is Glorying in the Cross and we looked at all the stuff we glory in, and what it means to glorying in the cross. And the only way to glory in the cross is to look to Christ as your Lord and Savior, and to know salvation is 100% of God and not even .00000000000001% our doing.
