Buckin_Horse_4228 — Fri, 2011-04-01 15:02Where's a good place to get some new boots in Lincoln?
Im new to this site and I have a few ?'s
marinecowboy3241 — Sat, 2011-01-29 21:23I wanted to know info on how I'd go about trying to get into Bull riding. I would love to learn more about it, the ins and outs. don't mean to sound like an idiot but I'm new to PBR and bull riding in general but I was wondering what I'd have to do to get into riding bulls. I'm a little older in my mid 20's but would like some advice in how I'd go about in getting into it. lol. If u could give me advice I'd love to hear it.
RIDING BULLS
South Texas Cowboy — Mon, 2011-01-31 00:23Getting started in anything is finding a location that would allow amateur and beginners the opportunity to start. In many states, arenas may offer practice nights normally during the week to get out and try your luck honing your skills. Next thing is getting into some jackpot rodeo's and build up your level of riding, maybe earn some cash of figure that Bull Riding is not for you. Most of the Cowboys around the arena are always happy to help along with provide information. IF your any good, you could go to the next step going pro....but before I would even look into pro, start with the basics. Where do they have buck - outs that you can go too.
You might start with your County Extension agent and ask, where are some arena, call the local FFA and find out where High School Rodeo Clubs ride at....or enroll in a school....
Yep.....school. http://www.sankeyrodeo.com/ provides training, equipment and can turn your talent into a pro Bull Rider....well, at least give you the training that could get you there.
There's another great school "Let R Buck" http://www.cnobull2tuff.com/about/index.html
where JW will be happy to enroll you in his April First Class....and if your ever in Texas or Ohio, I'll be happy to direct you to several Contractor that is always looking for riders training their younger bulls to buck.....Now all you got to do, is get out there and say "it's time to ride....."

Extreme cowboy racing
crisrod — Sun, 2011-01-09 07:18Hi,
I entered my first extreme cowboy race last summer and really enjoyed it. Does any one know of other events like this that are planned for this year in the mid west where they would be open to beginners.
Competition for Beginners
South Texas Cowboy — Sun, 2011-01-09 10:00Extreme:
Several organizations offer opportunities for the novice rider. Extreme Cowboy Association holds national competitions and clinics that help train individuals with riding skills, training their horse for such and are very helpful assisting young and old in their events. The current director Bill Hull has perform a superb job bringing Craig Cameron Cowboy racing across the nation and into Canada.
Contact for Bill's email bhextremecowboy@gmail.com
web-site: http://www.extremecowboyassociation.com/index.htm
If you like Extreme, I highly recommend you read the story on the 2010 Competition http://americancowboy.com/blogs/south-texas-cowboy/extreme-cowboy
ACTHA:
Another great organization is the American Competitive Trail Horse Association also known as ACTHA: http://www.actha.us/index.php where you can earn prize money, points and build the reputation of your horse and self. Their contact is through their web page listed and ACTHA also has trail bucks that work as cash with many retail outlets. Check their web page on the rules, but in today's economic trend, it is nice to earn cash back from events. ACTHA also contributes thousands of dollars each year to many charities and host trail rides across the USA.
In addition to competing with your horse, you can earn some cool prizes and buckles with both organization. Molly Rush who also competes has become the official buckle provider for both groups Extreme and ACTHA. Also ACTHA does much in the social media where you will find something always going on closer to home no matter where you live across the nation.
I hope this assist you on what you are looking for and Happy Trails:

Happy Holidays! Thanks for joining! My uk trip last spring!
NebraskaArcher — Wed, 2010-12-22 10:37Thanks to all of you folks who have joined our group, please introduce yourselves in the forum if you'd like to. Tell us a little bit about yourself, why you are interested in the Cowboy or Western lifestyle, things like that!
What's new with me! Well, not a whole lot. Got a sick wife at home, with the flu. My whole family has been sick lately including myself. Kinda stinks but that's the winter for you! Even a couple of my cats are sick! :)
It's supposed to snow here the next couple of days so I guess we'll have a white christmas here in Omaha! I get a couple weeks off of college classes so that's a nice treat. I've got a bunch of westerns lined up on netflix to watch..gotta do something when you can't go outside! I definately like the spring and fall here, but the summer is hot and humid like Texas and the winter feels like Colorado.
So what did I do this year that was different than usual!?
Last feb/march I visited Scotland, and England to see some family on my wife's side. Pretty cool trip, but it is dark there and pretty chilly in the winter. I got to see the castle where they filmed Monty Python and the Holy Grail..Pretty awesome! I'll tell you though, I missed all the conveniences of America.
Our 24 hour fast food and shopping, ice cubes, cold beer, and the friendly people here in the heartland. When I got back to Chicago it was a sense of relief! People in Scotland aren't as friendly up front as we are around here, so I missed that as well.England is almost the opposite and people are more approachable.
Nothing makes you appreciate this part of the world as much as going somewhere that is SOOOO different. Good ol' Nebraska! :) Take care everyone and have a safe holiday! Dan
