Fifty
FIFTY, yes FIFTY Degrees. It's been so long since we've seen 50 degrees (F of course) that I almost forgot what it was like. The snow is melting but it's not all gone yet, leaving a lot of soft ground and mud. The equines are actually eating some of the grass that was left in the few bare spots that cropped up. Most of the fields are still snow covered. It's this time that gets one anxious to start some serious work with the animals.
I'll be working with Willie (my avitar) on driving this year, with hopes of competing with him next year. I'm planning on working on all three driving disciplines with Willie, Dressage, Cones, and Marathon. But, only time will tell how successful I'll be. After all, Willie is a mule, and therefore smart enough. It will mainly be up to me to make it happen.
Let's hear from some others on their plans for the year. Is there anyone else out there who competes with their mule? Any other drivers... or trail riders that are Mule mounted out there. Does anyone compete with the ACTHA?

Now it's 100
Kansas Jack — Wed, 2011-07-27 09:22When looking back at my post for 50, I only wish.... Now it's the 100s we're dealing with. I've always said that Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons. In Summer you're sizzling, and in Winter you're freezing. Everything in moderation, that's what I say.

Vaquero — Wed, 2011-07-27 09:51Mighty dry too. The records are broken Hottest driest year on record and August is coming quick. Yep, drier than the 30s dust bowl. This all refers to the Tx panhandle.
