Pendleton is Cowboy Country
Travel Pendleton — Mon, 2012-02-27 12:43I thought I would share a recent conversation I had with a journalist out of the U.K. I was telling him about a saddlemaker in town who also is known for his sushi and the journalists said to me, "There is probably much more call for a sushi maker than a saddlemaker in this day and age." I quickly corrected him and told him about the number of custom saddlemakers not only in Pendleton but all of Eastern Oregon. As the horse and cowboy culture is alive and well here. He was surprised and fascinated as he had no idea doing most of his stories on big cities. I was so pleased to enlight him.
Only a few days later I had a tour here with a convention organizer and she remarked how surprised she was to see so many horses in pastures here. Oregon and Pendleton is still where the cowboy way of life is alive and well.
