The West feels best in person, but sometimes the written word strikes a chord.

We live within walls of concrete. They confine us and obscure our view of the horizon. Is it any wonder we roam—or long to roam—the West beyond the limits of our urban culture?

The spirit of the cowboy astride his horse has animated this land for more than a century. To connect with that spirit is to come as close as anything to expanding our horizons, but we have to make that connection first.
