Threading Through
Thank you very much for the strength of content in your
Sept./Oct. article "Threads." A special thanks too for the raw
courage to address this battered subject. Your thoughts were
stated with grace and without apology, an essential duo.

Pistols ’n’ Petticoats
In 1966 a Western TV series came on by the name of Pistols 'n'
Petticoats. Ann Sheridan was the star. It was on CBS by Universal
Studios. For years now I have been searching to find VHR cassettes
or DVDs that would have uncut episodes of the series with
the original credits and commercial station breaks. Would you
know where I might find them?
-Paul P.Mortillo, Haverstraw, N.Y.
Dear Paul: A quick search of Netflix.com did not turn up anything-
not even the series in any form, with or without commercials. Our
suggestion would be that you consult Western Clippings, a magazine
devoted to TV and movie Westerns. You can find information on
it by consulting the web or by emailing vidwest@comcast.net. I'm not
aware of a website for them. I rather doubt you will find anything that
has all the original commercials as aired during the original run of the
series. That would be a fun find, but it seems only a remote possibility.
The series is cited in Don Cusic's encyclopedic volume Cowboys and
the Wild West, wherein one finds this note: "A western situation
comedy, this series told the story of the Hanks family in the town of
Wretched, Colorado, in the 1870.
