Wolf hunting
Desert Rat — Thu, 2010-08-19 12:49I believe it should be open seson on them or any other predator that endangers human posesions or his livelyhood.

Rancher's profits over state's profits.
rockinequine — Sat, 2010-05-22 00:22I think ranchers should always have the right to range management first. If there is still an abundance of the animal on government land then it should be opened up to hunters. This is a hot topic in this area.
Management is Good
barnzie3 — Wed, 2010-02-24 14:34Management is good for all hunting, not just wolves. Too many of any one animal is not good for humans or the animal. You can see it around here with deer. A lot get hit by vehicles and the ones that don't starve during winter. A good balance ensures there is enough food for the animals in the winter.
With all the comments, I
nighthawksh — Sun, 2010-02-07 15:40With all the comments, I would like to see some sources for the actual numbers of wolfs, how much actual damage they are doing, and where has any child been attacked.
This, like the wild horse issue, is filled with emotion and darn little fact.
I have always subscribed to a policy of balance in Mother Nature. She used to do a pretty good job. Sadly, we humans have destroyed much of that balance. So, now we must step in where Mother Nature has been pushed aside and do what we can to hold as near as possible to a balance.
Regarding the hunting of wolves, I would support that in areas where it can be proved there is an abundance of the animals and also proved they are doing damage, outside of their normal role.
Or, what the hell, we can just kill everything and let our kids worry about what will happen to our earth then.
They need to be controlled
theasmith — Sat, 2010-02-06 22:54They need to be controlled and hunting is a great way to do it. Althought its not perfect (hunting), but wolves are causing a lot of major major in certain areas, not only killing livestock but coming after children and other humans. If the wolf is on your propert you should be able to shoot as many as you like as long as the polution is stable, which it is in many areas. Being from Pa, we have seen a lot of damage from coytes recently and I think the wolf population should be controlled before it becomes to large.
Environmentalist are Idolators
Cracker Cowboy — Mon, 2010-01-04 17:31A bunch of earth worshippin' idolators are the folks out to regulate your life and tell you what you can and cannot hunt. Better believe I am protecting my livestock.
All their enviromental policies and the legislation they are tryin to push through is aimed at hurting big industry. The cattle industry don't need a bunch of idolators dictating to us anything! This country is ours, they are impostors.

Wolf Hunting
McLintock — Fri, 2010-01-01 21:07No, If the wolfs are on our land and killing our livestock we should be able to shot at will. I will say we as humans have taken over the woods and they are less and less each day. This is the consequence of "progress". Also where does the U.S. government have the right to charge these unsinceable prices of these hunting tags. and even more if you live across state line. In Genesis God gave humans the charge over the beast of the field. We need to use common since, and not kill to kill, but kill for food and protection.

Yes...
Steve_in_Boulder — Mon, 2009-12-28 12:39The fact is, only through creation of something resembling "ownership" can the costs -- and the benefits -- of wolves outside of national parks and other non-hunting areas be balanced. The real question is, to my view, how can you treat wolves differently than any other wildlife?
Wolf hunt
62bmw — Sun, 2009-12-27 08:13It's a tool but not a very effective one , Seeing a wolf in rough country when your out hunting is going to be brief and the chance for a shot is going to be less . Hunting is the only management tool that was left on the table . Trapping , aircraft hunting , pioson were all taken out . The price of the tag should be affordable to everyone . Idaho sold 20,000 tags and was able to make their quotta . If you took the price of that tag and made it like their non resident elk tag and the cost would be around 700.00 , I bet they wouldn't sell many and they would be nowere near managing the wolf population . The people who could afford those hunts generally are older folks from the city , who cann't handle hikeing in rough country . Yes I know I guided in the panhandle of Idaho , the demagraphics of the the hunting population has changed .
Short answer the wolves have screwed the rural towns by devastateing the elk , everyone should be able to hunt them ,they need to put trapping back in as a management tool .
You try to come out here and scratch out a living .
Yes, but the permit cost
Jon Dorn — Wed, 2009-12-09 16:22Yes, but the permit cost should be high, both to help us understand the value of this incredible wildlife, and to help the local economies where the hunts happen. We should look at this like big-game hunting in Africa -- only a few of the animals get taken, and it fuels livelihoods for locals.

La_cowgirl21 — Fri, 2010-01-08 15:42i think that if they are a problem in the area regarding livestock or endangering other wildlife then you should definitely be able to provide a solution to the problem. You wouldn't just be killing to kill, you are providing protection of either your livelihood or other animals.
