Event organizers are expecting a big crowd this Father’s day when a Wyoming sculptor unveils a bronze statue memorializing rodeo and music icon Chris LeDoux in Kaycee, Wyo.

The statue, which will stand in the new Chris LeDoux Memorial Park near where LeDoux made his home, pays tribute to the man that sculptor D. Michael Thomas called “Mr. Wyoming.” It depicts LeDoux spurring a bucking horse, and the statue's base is a replica of LeDoux's guitar.

“People often come into Kaycee wanting to see something about Chris’ life,” said memorial foundation coordinator and Kaycee resident Pam Kinchen. “Now they will be able to bring their families to the park and tell their kids about Chris – how important family was to him, his artistry and how no dream is too big.”

LeDoux, winner of the 1976 Professional Rodeo World Championship in bareback riding and seller of more than 6 million records, died of liver cancer in 2005.
