All-Star Mounted Shooters Converge on Clovis, New Mexico
All-Star Mounted Shooting competition set for Oct. 16, 2010 at Curry County Events Center
By Ken Amorosano
Twenty of the nation's best Cowboy Mounted Shooters will converge on the
Curry County Events Center in Clovis, New Mexico on October 16, to battle it
out with blazing six-guns and high performance horses for the first Western
Shooting Horse All-Star Shootout.
Presented by Western Shooting Horse Magazine, Colt Firearms, Wrangler and AJ
Horses, the All-Star Shootout pits these best of the best mounted shooters
against each other in a three-stage high-stakes run-off that guarantees
mega-horsepower excitement and heart pounding competition and horsemanship.
The event starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 and include a one-year
subscription to Western Shooting Horse Magazine. Children 12 and under with
a guardian or parent are free.
Mounted Shooting is one of the fastest growing equestrian sports in the
nation. Competitors use .45 caliber single action cowboy pistols that fire
black powder blanks cartridges at a series of ten targets while maneuvering
assorted courses. It is a fast-paced, high-speed competition in which only
the best-trained and fastest horses can be used. The shooter with the
fastest time and the least amount of misses takes top honors and the lion
share of prizes and money.
The Western Shooting Horse All-Star Mounted Shootout takes place at 7:00
p.m. on Saturday, October 16 at the Curry County Events Center in Clovis,
New Mexico. Tickets can be purchased at Joe's Boots, the region's top Tack
and Western Wear store located at 2600 Mabry Drive (Hwy 84) in Clovis or
online at www.mountedshootingallstars.com.
