STEP 1
Use a hacksaw to cut a section of antler roughly 1 inch long and 1 inch in diameter. (We made quick work of the task by using a reciprocating saw).

If you don't have any antlers on hand, you can probably find some at your local pet store, where they're sold as chew toys for dogs.

STEP 2
Clamp the section in a vise and drill out the center of the antler with a 3/4-inch bit. If the edges of the antler are rough enough to snag your scarf, file them down with sand paper.

STEP 3
If you’d like to customize your scarf slide, file down a smooth surface on one side of the antler. We used a belt sander, though hand sanding works just as well.

STEP 4
Wood burn your brand or initials (it's helpful to pencil in your design first). Alternatively, you can adhere gemstones, conchos, or other decorations to the smoothed area with a strong adhesive.

It took a few passes with the wood burner for the brand to become etched into the antler, so be patient!

STEP 5
Pull the tails of your wild rag through the hole and snug up to tighten and secure.
